DBH3 Hash #701

Change of shoes, my ass! A change of shoes just didn't cut it for this one, G! Gilligan was sick so he recruited Waaayyy Beyond Gay, who in turn recruited Richard Pierce to hare using the handy dandy aerial map that Gilligan had printed. (actually, it was Waayyy's trail, he recruted Gilligan to lay it ed.) RP asked for as much time as we could give him in case he couldn't read the map. Not a problem since WBG's chalk talk took 3 hours! There was a slight chill in the air which made Neutered very happy because he was able to sell some long sleeved shirts to the newbies who had no body fat to keep them warm.

The start location this week was Strickland Shooting Range again. Okay, doesn't that make anyone else nervous?!? Should we be wearing orange or something? Trail started out with a canal crossing right away. We weren't sure how deep it was so we sent Goofy in first to check it out. He made it across safely so the rest of us followed. Can you say, "cold?!" After we checked ourselves for leaches, we trudged on to the next water crossing. More water, more water and even more water, which had a strange metallic smell. Toxic waste, perhaps? We came to one particular canal and saw Shooter & Cum-a-hole-lick standing there looking perplexed. They had tried, unsuccessfully, to go around said canal and were now waiting for the rest of the pack. It was a pretty steep muddy embankment and Shooter said she had tried it once and fell on her ass and was afraid to try again. Step aside, woman! Virgin Wendy led the way-she must have been thirsty. We finally came to a beer stop in the back of WBG's car. He's lucky he has a small car or he would have had several soaking ass wet smelly hashers pile in for a ride to the end. Our fun meter had definitely been pegged by this point. Can you say, "chafing?"

Virgin Wendy appeared to be having a good time, Virgin Mary not so much. Mary is a little on the petite side so much more of her body was submerged in the water than the rest of us. Poor thing was miserable! We assured her that every hash is not like this one, but it will be a surprise if she comes back. She did seem to enjoy the circle, though. After hearing a few of our raunchy songs, she said, "Now I see why Papa Tard (although she used his nerd name) asked me to come!" Alrighty then! Maybe she will be back. Circle was kinda short because we were wet and miserable and getting eaten alive by mosquitos almost as big as WBG's car. We wrapped it up and headed back to the parking lot, only to find that we were surrounded by about 20 redneck softball players. We tried to recruit them to come hashing, but they didn't seem to understand the concept of running through the woods and drinking beer when they could just stay in their pickup trucks and drink. Touch!

(I don't remember where the on-after was because I didn't go.)
