DBH3 Run # 565 began in fine fashion in a Tikki Bar on the World's most famous beach. Pussy Gourmet, our hare, showed up with some definite tricks up her sleeve to celebrate the romanticism of St. Valentine's Day. Each hound was issued a paper heart which we were told would be needed later in the trail (only a chick would come up with something gay like that!) One lucky hound, which happened to be Chip-n-Dale, got a secret message on his, which was "Be my Co-Hare". After all the harrierets said "aw, how sweet", and the harriers puked in disgust, the hares were off laying trail. The rest of the pack would have started singing "Father Abraham" or something like that but we were drowned out by the sounds of race week in Daytona, you know, the sounds of big fat sweaty guys yelling at each other over who faster in the pits, glass pack mufflers on monster truck 4X4's, and songs like "Free Bird" blaring on 8 track tape decks...
The trail first led down the beach about a ½ mile to a CB to Start and after everyone moaned and whined about running back to the start, we then proceeded to a familiar residence for a beer check. Mt. Dora and Mama Get Off Me were both nearly attacked by a dog that looked like a cross between Cujoe and Gilligan (scary huh?) on the way in to the stop. They were saved, however, by Half Cocked rod because he was uglier than the dog. After all of the beers were consumed, the pack was off again only to find yet another Count Back, again, to the first beer check (okay, this is getting old!). The one interesting symbol that the hare, in her infinite feministic style, choose to use was a heart shaped with flour at each beer stop. The whole trail made me want to take out a subscription to Red Book magazine! After the second count back the pack headed to another familiar place, Robbie O'Connell's, for the second beer check. An out of town race fan kept the pack entertained and wanted all of us to pose for pictures with her. No Blow stole a Guinness Banner that had his birthday date on the sign. And each hasher had to trade in the paper heart for a beer and then we were off again!
We finally reached the end of the 4 mile trail and a multitude of down-downs commenced. We had three bags of ice placed on comfortable lawn chairs (for long periods of sitting). The usual fare occurred with birthdays (Pussy Gourmet, Mt. Dora, and No Blow), too long betweens, FRB's, etc. Speedy forgot the words to one of her own written songs and had to do a down-down, and Gilligan had to do a down-down for, well, just being Gilligan. We then had a special event occur. Sperm Burp and Chip-n-Dale exchanged hash vows (I promise to lick cooter, give blow jobs, etc.) to celebrate the legal aspect of their marriage which occurred just one day prior. How romantic, a hash wedding on Valentine's Day. The pack celebrated with Champaign Down-Downs and then the circle was closed. Hamburgers and hotdogs were enjoyed by all until Sir Flatulot ran out of gas (on the grill that is) and had to move the party inside to finish cooking. So ends another successful hash. If you were not there you missed a good one!
